Inside:

1974/75 Season - February

Summary

The all too familiar end of season collapse (it was a regular occurrence during the seventies) brought three defeats in five games and left United finishing in 15th; our worst position all season.

The despair of being United

The month started with a pathetic performance at Filbert Street where relegation threatened Leicester secured a 4-0 victory. It was a bad day for Ray "Rocky" Hudson to make his debut.

Another insipid performance at home to championship contenders Everton (2nd) saw United lose 1-0; a group of fans hung a sign up on the wall stating simply "WE WANT SUCCESS"

A goalless draw was played out at a muddy Stoke where United at least battled hard before a 3-1 home victory over Arsenal (17th) brought a first victory in 10 games

Harvey's last match in charge attracted 24,787 fans to SJP - the lowest crowd of the season - for a meaningless match with Birmingham. United were two goals down after 23 minutes and although Mac pulled one back with his 27th goal of the season it ended in defeat.

Testimonials for David Craig and Sunderland's Martin Harvey gave us two Tyne Wear derbies.
